Events are special modifiers that can activate at any time while playing, applying to everyone in the server. Events are displayed at the top of the screen with a message specific to the event. When an event is active, it makes a certain Exotic+ ore more common. For example, if you see "A strange feeling clouds up your mind..." at the topbar, it nerfs the rarity of Vaporwave Crystal from 90,000,000 to 50,000,000.
Events that adjust the rarity for Transcendent+ ores also have special effects that may be positive or negative, with all Subworld 1 events and Obliveracy Endmost's event being the only exceptions. For example, "A pale, shimmering fragment bursts into an array of colors just below the surface of the mine..." reduces the rarity of Pastelorium, but also heavily reduces the rarity of Elusium and Elysian by 5x. Other events such as "You feel nauseated as each breath you take makes you feel closer to the end..." make all special Cave Types unable to spawn and makes all ores in the Obsidian Layer 1.25x rarer. This can make certain events more or less favorable, even if you are not going for the main ore the event is boosting.
Events used to go away once the mine reset, but on a change published on July 27th, 2022, events now end after a certain amount of time or after the ore is found.

There are also Spawn Messages, which take up the same spot as event messages, replacing any active event message for a short amount of time (but not the event itself). For example, if you see "You hear a ringing in your ears...", then a Transcendent tier ore has spawned somewhere in the mine. Spawn Messages happen for everyone in the server, not just for the person who spawned the ore. The only thing Spawn Messages do is notify when you've spawned an Exotic tier or higher ore so you don't miss it. They do not alter the rarity of anything. You can differentiate between Spawn Messages and Events as spawn messages will always be italicized, while events will not. Event text will turn "Bold" for the person who spawned the ore when a Spawn Message is over, letting them know they spawned and may have missed the ore.
All Unfathomable+ ores have unique spawn messages specific to the ore found, excluding those from Subworld 1.
