Destiny 2’s weekly reset time is an anticipated moment among all players for several reasons. With the release of the Lightfall expansion, that time slightly changed, but the expectation for the new content and updated rotations has not. Because Bungie’s online shooter is a live-service game, it gets a weekly reset that brings in new content, such as seasonal missions, as well as rotating pre-existing content.
Activities like the featured Nightfall mission in Destiny 2 or Crucible mode change with the weekly reset. Within a season, the reset also serves to implement new seasonal challenges and stories, keeping the game updated with the latest content. The weekly reset in Destiny 2 always happens on the same weekday and time, with little variations to when it is implemented depending on daylight saving time.
Destiny 2’s Weekly Reset Times Per Zone
Destiny 2’s weekly reset happens every Tuesday, at 5 pm UTC. Per zone, this means that the weekly reset is implemented at 10 am PDT (Pacific Daylight Time - West Coast) / 1 pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time - East Coast) / 7 pm CEST (Central European Summer Time). These are the times during daylight savings periods – more specifically, between March and November of every year. Between November and March, the weekly reset is set back by one hour, as cited by Bungie’s official Support page. Daily resets also happen at those same times.
What Happens With Every Destiny 2 Weekly Reset
The weekly reset in Destiny 2 brings in a series of changes across the game. Notably, new seasonal content is added, which includes both story missions, and new seasonal challenges, which grant XP and, often, other rewards, such as Bright Dust. All weekly challenges in the game are also reset, such as Zavala’s eight Vanguard bounties and the Vanguard playlist challenge, and Shaxx’s eight Crucible bounties and the three Crucible match completions. This also applies to The Drifter’s Gambit, Nimbus’ Neomuna challenge, and other vendors in Destiny 2.
The featured Nightfall strike, Crucible mode, Raid, and Dungeon of the week are also altered with every weekly reset in Destiny 2. Items in vendors’ inventories, such as the weapons offered by Banshee-44, the shaders sold by Ada-1, and the stock found in Xur’s roster, change week after week (as does Xur’s location). Both Xur’s sales and Saint-14’s Trials of Osiris happen exclusively during the weekend. Though the weekly reset triggers the change, players will only see them in play with the daily reset on the Friday of that week. Occasionally, Saladin's Iron Banner will occur, and the change will be implemented with the weekly reset.
Another notable change with Destiny 2’s weekly reset is the refresh of items offered by Eververse. While the featured discounted items with Silver can be enticing, what is most appealing are the offers with Bright Dust in Destiny 2. This resource can be gathered by all players and the items offered at the cost of Bright Dust are a chance for players to get cosmetic items in a F2P (free-to-play) way, without having to buy Silver with real-life money.
There is a significant amount of refreshes and new content added with every Destiny 2 weekly reset. Although the game does hit low points throughout seasons, especially after the story content is cleared and players just have to wait for a new season to start, the reset gives them reasons to log in and continue playing Destiny 2.
