TikTok's Bryce Hall and Austin McBroom's Complete Feud Timeline (2024)

The boxing match that sparked a thousand memes! Internet stars Bryce Hall and Austin McBroom’s longtime feud came to a head in June 2021 when they finally stepped into the ring and sorted out their issues. However, the drama between them lasted longer than just a few rounds.

Hall is a TikTok superstar who rose to fame after gaining a massive following on Musical.ly — which has since become TikTok — Vine and YouNow. While he’s had a few controversies in the past, the internet personality is also known for founding the now-defunct Sway House, which included fellow social media influencers, including Noah Beck, Josh Richards and Blake Gray.

Prior to flaunting his single status, Hall also made headlines for his on-again, off-again romance with Addison Rae. After taking things public in late 2020, the former flames officially announced their split in March 2021.

In another corner of the internet, McBroom grew his online following with more family-friendly content. The former NCAA basketball player is the mastermind behind The ACE Family — a YouTube channel he runs with his wife, Catherine Paiz. The couple vlogs their daily lives with their three children — Elle, Steel and Alaïa.

While the family has gained plenty of views, it hasn’t stopped them from developing some well-documented financial troubles. Insider reported in October 2021 that they were forced to give up ownership of their $10 million Los Angeles mansion.

It’s safe to say that both Hall and McBroom have faced their fair share of drama in the public eye, but nothing beats what went down between them. Brothers Jake Paul and Logan Paul might’ve started the influencer-to-boxer pipeline, but it didn’t take long for Hall and McBroom to follow suit. Their fight marked the beginning of these foes’ boxing careers … and it was a long time coming.

So, what went down? The internet stars had a few public interactions before Hall agreed to a boxing match against McBroom. Then, the Social Gloves: Battle of the Platforms event was announced. Other than the main event, it included matchups between other social media stars, including AnEsonGib and Tayler Holder, Vinnie Hacker and Dejiand DDG and Nate Wyatt. There were also live performances by Lil Baby, Migos and DJ Khaled.

McBroom Throws the Gauntlet

The drama first went down in December 2020 when Austin made waves in a since-deleted Instagram post showing himself training in a boxing ring. In the video, Austin said, “I’ve got enough kids, but I’ll make you my son.”

He tagged the Paul brothers and came for Hall in the caption, which read, “I heard all your excuses, you ain’t built for this. I’ll let you keep ducking.”

Hall Posts the Receipts

In March 2021, the TikTok star replied to McBroom’s initial challenge with a Twitter post that showed apparent text messages between the two. Hall repeatedly criticized McBroom’s age in the screenshots.

“All this because I won’t accept his little fight and now he’s crying because he can’t pay his cleaning lady," Bryce wrote at the time. McBroom quickly followed up with a reply, insinuating that Bryce was too scared to face him in the ring, at which point Hall said McBroom “had his terms.”

Hall Agrees To the Fight

On March 15, 2021, Hall confirmed that he was ready to enter the ring. The match was advertised as a YouTubers vs. TikTokers boxing event, brought to the ring by McBroom’s promotions company, Social Gloves.

Hall and McBroom Trade Insults

Ahead of the match, Hall and McBroom traded insults at the press conference, which took place at Fred Segal in West Hollywood. Hall charged at McBroom, who pushed him to the floor. Security and management immediately intervened, pulling the fighters apart from each other.

McBroom Comes Out On Top

The fight took place on June 14, 2021, and McBroom came out on top. He landed a few solid punches in the first two rounds and turned up the intensity in the third (and final) round. By the end of the fight — which was called by the referee before McBroom could knock out Hall — Hall was looking worse for wear.

“I’m not a fighter; I never claimed to be a fighter,” Hall said after the match. He later posted on Instagram, writing, “You impressed many along with myself with your skill set! I’m going back to my youtube / tiktok s–t and I’m looking forward to takin a few shots with you tonight.”

Show Us the Money?

McBroom confessed to TMZ in July 2021 that no one had been paid following the fight, including himself.

Setting the Record Straight

Bryce, for his part, set the record straight about payment while appearing on the “Plan Bri Uncut” podcast in August 2022, more than a year after all the drama went down.

“There’s some people who got paid. … Yeah, I got paid,” he claimed. “No one really got paid — I don’t think. … So, my contract was the only contract that was with Live X Live. … I was like, ‘There’s no possible way I’m not going to get paid. That’s why I never went online and was bitching.”
